Awarded GuitarPlayer magazine's Editor's Pick in October 2022

The Ascension F25 is a low wattage, 25 watt, ceramic magnet, guitar speaker with an emphasis on crunch and mid-range presence. A well-balanced driver, equally suited to classic rock sounds as it is jazz, heavy metal or punk.

The F25’s tonal character possesses a detailed, yet reduced, top-end that paves the way for a super-satisfying mid punch to chords and cut-through lead tones without being too sharp or shrill. Clean tones are warm, detailed and not overly bright.

The F25 is great for low powered amps but really comes alive when used with high powered amps in 4x12 configurations or valve amps pushed into overdrive. The unit is also lighter than our Ascension F70 or F90.

New Fane Medium magnet Speaker
Reviewerdbeeman / FromUSA / Date16 May 2022

I recently found out Fane is making some new lower wattage speakers in Medium mag, Heavy mag, and Alnico. I have some of their recent higher power offerings and liked them, so I ordered the low wattage versions from Dave at Avatar. I broke in the new F25 (medium mag) for a couple of days at low wattage in my isolation chamber before testing.

I tried it in a 2 * 12 closed back cab, wired in stereo with a well broken in Celestion greenback in the other side, so I could switch back and forth quickly. For the amp, I used my Aiken Invader set at a good crunch level. Guitar was a Thorn T style with Ron's staple top "T-90's". Both speakers had a great midrange bark. The Fane added a bit of sparkle to the highs that lent itself to good string definition without being harsh . -- This seems to be difficult for many speakers to accomplish; you often get rolled off highs or icepick in the ear. I can see using the F25 when some of the other medium magnet offerings don't give you quite the definition or air that you want.

New Speakers Fane Ascension F25 in 1960TV
Reviewer Necky379 / FromUSA / Date02 May 2022

Avatar is shipping the new Fane line in the US and I picked up a pair of F25’s to replace the greenbacks in my 1960TV cab. They did a full break-in before shipping and I took the opportunity to solder 12 awg wire while installing them. I’ve only played my 5150 through them so far. I like to start there because I have the most time with that amp (like 15 years +) and I’m very familiar with it. I was a little bit unsure at first because there aren’t any demos yet but I’m happy to report my first impression is very positive.

Avatar was great to deal with, I spent some time talking with the owner regarding this new line before deciding to try them. I wanted a darker greenback at first, these aren’t dark but they are less brash. I need to try more amps through them but they definitely pair perfectly with the 5150. The low end is easy to dial in, I can now bump up the presence knob up to where it starts adding in that aggressive cut towards the higher settings. They sound more articulate and clear than the greenies I had but not harsh at all. I’m very impressed so far.
